Experience and excellence in implant dentistry at the International Congress on Ankylos 2018

On June 29 and 30, more than 1,000 visitors from close to 50 countries met in Berlin for Focus on implant dentistry – International Congress on Ankylos 2018.

The implant dentistry community with a special interest in the Ankylos implant system experienced a two-day journey of energy, new ideas, deep clinical expertise, and great laughs.

Excellence without exception

More than three decades of scientific documentation and clinical evidence presented by experienced speakers like Ye Lin (China) and Barry Goldenberg (USA) and the exciting perspectives of a digital future in implant dentistry outlined by Scientific Chairman Paul Weigl (Germany) and Mark Ludlow (USA) – the extensive lecture program featured both long-term experience and current news and trends.

One of the highlights was the interactive Inspiration TALKS session, where moderator Peter Gehrke and speakers Sven Rinke (Germany), Alberto Albiero (Italy), Ernest Cholakis (Canada) and Martin Wanendeya (United Kingdom) discussed implant treatment from various patient perspectives. Equally notable was the session on “The dental implant clinic today and in the future,” where speaker Liza Chernovol (Russia) impressively underlined the importance of networking by presenting the entire group of Russian attendees on stage.

A variety of theoretical and practical focus sessions rounded off the program, providing opportunities to increase skills and discover new techniques in small groups.

Inspiration and innovation

The Inspiration Hub exhibition was the place to be for networking and exploring implant treatment solutions and the latest technologies by Dentsply Sirona. As a special treat, congress attendees had the chance to get a first exclusive look at Acuris, the new conometric concept developed together with Marco Degidi (Italy). Acuris uses friction instead of a screw or cement to secure the crown and the cap to the abutment in the final prosthetic part of the implant treatment.

Celebrating excellence

During the evening event with the “Stars in Concert” band, honoring some of the world’s greatest music legends, time had come to celebrate the winners of the Poster & Video Awards. Congratulations to Maria das Gracas Bergamim Avelino, Brazil, winner in category Clinical Application; Jose Vitor Quinelli Mazazo, Brazil, winner in the category Long-term Documentation and Research; and Amira Begić, Germany, winner in the Video category.

At the end of two intensive days, there was no doubt about it: the Ankylos implant system is younger than ever, with a bright future in clinics worldwide. Thank you to all our guests who made the International Congress on Ankylos an inspiring and extraordinary event.
